Playing in the snow

The weekend before last my son Lars and I got out twice to play in the snow. On Saturday we skied up to Silver Lake Flat from Tibble Fork. It was a very nice day, not too cold. The wind was howling up top though which made it very cold.

We didn't stay long up top.

The powder was quite deep once you got off the road.

On the Monday holiday we borrowed my brother’s fat bike for Lars and headed up to South Fork. It was snowing hard with poor visibility. We actually lost the trail across the lower meadow and ended up postholing across part of it. Once we got across it was all ridable and very fun, even going off the trail and floundering in deep powder.

Finally across.

And back in the saddle.

I’m lucky to have kids that like to play outside with me. Really.
