In October I had an academic conference in the quaint town of West Yellowstone, Montana, which just happens to be on the western boundary of Yellowstone National Park. It was the perfect opportunity to see the park in Autumn when the summer crowds are gone. My wife and two boys tagged along. We brought the mountain bikes along as well.
We stayed in our favorite motel in WY, The Stagecoach Inn. It has a rustic lodge feel to it with big game trophies all over the walls in the lobby. It also has a nice hot tub and sauna.
We had a nice time mountain biking along the Madison River, and exploring the park. We took a nice drive up through the Lamar Valley, visiting Mammoth Hot Springs and found a nice bouldering spot along the highway near Mammoth Hot Springs.
